The trailer for Do Patti left me buzzing with excitement as I was all seated for a thrilling experience! From the very first glimpse, I was hooked by the intriguing storyline and couldn’t wait to see how Kriti Sanon pulled off her double roles. Another reason for the film’s excitement was Kajol as a cop and I was thrilled to see her take on such a powerful character. And let’s not forget Shaheer Sheikh, who’s making his Bollywood debut! He has always been a heartthrob, and hence I was curious to see how he would transition into films. It is also written by Kanika Dhillon who is widely known for creating strong female characters that really shine. With all the excitement, the film has been watched. Is it worth it? Well, here’s our detailed review!

Plot Of Do Patti

A strong-willed police officer (Kajol) takes on a challenging case which involves an attempted murder case, only to find herself caught in the complicated rivalry between two twin sisters who have been estranged for a long time. As she digs deeper into the case, she uncovers the messy and broken relationships within their family. It leads to the revelation of many hidden secrets that complicate the situation even further. Amid all this drama, love blooms between Saumya and Dhruv Sood. Saumya and Dhruv’s love story gets welcomed by an unexpected and crazy twist- Saumya’s sister, Shailee.

The story takes a thrilling turn and will Saumya and Dhruv have their happy ending? It’s for you to watch and find out! With all the hidden secrets and drama, Kajol starts to question what justice means. She realizes that the lines between right and wrong are not always clear, and sometimes the truth can be more complicated than it seems. As the story unfolds, she gets stuck in a dilemma about supporting the factually correct side, or should she stand by the side that feels morally right. Which path will she choose? (No Spoilers!)

Performances

Kriti Sanon As Saumya And Shailee: Well, I was looking forward to Kriti Sanon’s double role and she didn’t disappoint! Her performance in Do Patti is nothing short of phenomenal. She is a natural and easily transitions between her roles. Kriti embodies both the soft girl image with Saumya and the baddie, cool Shailee with finesse. As Saumya, she showcased her vulnerable side and it instantly reminded me of Heropanti days. I was impressed by her range as an actor and she certainly kept me engaged with her performance.

Kajol As Jyothi (Police Officer): Unfortunately, her performance left me feeling a bit mixed. While she is undeniably a talented actress, I struggled to feel the strong aura from her character that I expected. At times, it seemed like she was trying too hard to pull off that Haryanvi accent, which took away the authenticity.

Shaheer Sheikh As Dhruv Sood: He effortlessly nailed both the soft, lover boy image and also portrayed the toxic traits of his character with ease. After Kriti Sanon, Shaheer’s natural charm and amazing screen presence made every scene engaging. He maintained the balance and nailed the duality of his character. Also, he’s a charmer so it was hard to take our eyes off him. Well, we would love to see him in more films!

Verdict: Kriti Sanon, Shaheer Shaikh Performances Are Too Good To Miss

It is a film that you shouldn’t miss, especially because of the outstanding performances by Kriti Sanon and Shaheer Shaikh. Their performances are truly too good to overlook. From their amazing chemistry to the depth they bring to the story, they’ll keep you engaged! Do Patti is beautifully made and has many emotional elements that’ll bring tears to your face. Since, the dialogues, screenplay and script were written by Kanika Dhillon, I was already seated. Hence, she deserves special mention, as she skillfully portrays the rage and softness of the female characters. She also made sure that the focus remained on the important issues rather than just the mystery. Do Patti tackles the sensitive topic of domestic violence in a sensitive manner which makes it a meaningful film to watch.

However, there were some drawbacks worth mentioning. Firstly, the VFX in certain scenes was poor and distracting and broke the flow of the story, which as a viewer I did not like! Additionally, Kajol’s performance felt a bit lacking. Moreover, the makers could have explored more about the twins’ storyline as you are left with so many questions and curiosity. While the film surely doesn’t provide you with a thrilling experience, it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride!  Overall, it is a heartfelt film with a rich narrative experience with some ifs and buts! Directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, Do Patti will premiere on Netflix on October 25!
