So far 2018 has been great, hasn’t it? What if we make it even better and tell you guys that there are 14 long weekends (and 16, if you take an extra day or two off) this year?! Are you jumping in excitement? We definitely are! Girls, it is time you start making travel plans with your friends and family. With so many long weekends this year, you can finally visit SO many different places in India.
If you are confused about which place to visit for every long weekend, don’t worry as we have it all sorted out just for you. So, pick up your travel planner and get ready to book tickets for your upcoming vacations!
1. REPUBLIC DAY
Days off: January 26-January 28
Where to go: Rann of Kutch
The Government of Gujarat hosts a three-month-long festival, Rann Utsav, where tourists from all over the world visit and see various sights. Experience full moon on salt deserts and enjoy the exquisite local traditions. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
2. MAHASHIVRATRI
Days off: February 10–February 13 (take a leave on February 12)
Where to go: Goa
There is nothing better than a four-day trip to Goa with your besties. Party every night and enjoy with a bottle of chilled beer at the sun-kissed beaches. Now, this is vacation goals, isn’t it?
3. HOLI
Days off: March 1–March 4
Where to go: Havelock Island, Andaman
Plan a family trip to Havelock Island, situated in the Andaman islands. Book a beautiful beach resort and make a staycation out of it. Don’t forget to enjoy the gorgeous blue water. . .
4. MAHAVIR JAYANTI AND GOOD FRIDAY
Days off: March 29–April 1
Where to go: Jodhpur, Rajasthan
Enjoy the flavour of the blue city before it gets too hot. Visit the forts, extravagant havelis, and indulge yourself in some scrumptious traditional food. What else would you want from a vacation, eh?
5. BUDDH PURNIMA

Where to go: Chopta
Gear up for a three-day fun-filled trip to the hills. From snow trekking, camping, and rock climbing, there is an abundance of activities for the adventurous you. I am booking my tickets, right now!
6. ID-UL-FITR
Days off: June 15-June 17
Where to go: Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir
There is nothing like a few days in the beauty that is Srinagar. Renting a shikara for a mini cruise or stroll through the 400-year-old Mughal Gardens. You can even shop hand-woven silks and embroidered shawls.
7. INDEPENDENCE DAY AND PARSI NEW YEAR
Days off: August 15-August19
Where to go: Munnar, Kerala
Munnar is an all-season destination! Covered with tea plantations, forests, mud roads, and mountains, this will be one beautiful holiday for you. Just relax and rejuvenate among the greenery and let all your worries dissipate.
8. ID-UL-ZUHA, RAKSHABANDHAN, AND ONAM
Days off: August 22-August26
Where to go: Mandu, Madhya Pradesh
Mandu is adorned with spell-binding architecture that is surrounded by gorgeous trees. You will be amazed by the beauty of romantic mahals and greenery all around you.
9. JANMASHTAMI
Days off: September 1-September 3
Where to go: Coonoor, Tamil Nadu
Take in the panoramic view of the lush Nilgiri hills, ravines, and waterfalls. It’s pleasant mostly all year around and you can enjoy some trekking and bird watching.
10. GANESH CHATURTHI
Days off: Septemeber 13-September 16
Where to go: Amritsar, Punjab
From traditional chole and Amritsari kulcha, a trip to the city of the Golden Temple will be one of the best trips for your belly! Make a visit to Harmandir Sahib and let peace consume you. Also, don’t forget to attend the ceremony at Attari-Wagah border, bet you will get goosebumps!

Where to go: Jim Corbett, Uttarakhand
Rich in flora and fauna, you should definitely make a trip to Jim Corbett National Park an go on a safari. You will be able to spot tigers in the month of September. How exciting is it going to be just a few meters away from the wildcat?
12. RAM NAVAMI AND DUSSEHRA
Days off: October 18-October 21
Where to go: Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
Visit the Golden City and take in the beautiful sight of the forts at the horizon. Do visit the Jaisalmer fort where you can find tiny shops full of local shops. There’s always something to see in Rajasthan, ladies!
13. DIWALI, BHAI DOOJ, AND GOVARDHAN POOJA

Where to go: Puducherry
Celebrate a cracker- and noise-free Diwali at the peaceful beaches of Puducherry. Take a flight to Chennai and make a road trip out of it. Moreover, the exquisite French architecture will make for some amazing pictures.
14. CHRISTMAS
Days off: December 22-December25
Where to go: Kaziranga, Assam
Known for its Tiger reserve, one-horned rhinos, and a huge variety of flora and fauna, you will be able to spotthe one-horned rhinos in December! Book a safari and get ready to be amazed by nature’s beauty.
