This 20-Year-Old Girl Earns $58K By Making Sexy ASMR Whisper Videos. It’s Not Too Late To Switch Jobs

Being a 20 something millennial is harder than it looks. We spend nearly 40% of our time scrolling mindlessly through social media and laughing at things that only a handful of people relate to. Social media can sometimes be your saving grace, but most of the time it’s a gravity hole for the world’s most bizarre things. In the last few months, I have come across a woman who pretends to be a puppy to earn money, an egg with its own Instagram page, a woman who put bees on her belly for a maternity photoshoot and people who dip eggs in their chai every morning. How I wish I were making these up. However, today I came across something that really made me stop and think about what I am doing with my life. You see, a woman who is a sensation of sorts on Youtube earns a truckload of money for making sexy ASMR videos where of herself whispering. BRB, crying and going to contemplate all my life’s decisions.

Lottie Fellows is a 20-year-old student in the UK studying accounting and finance at the University of Bath in England. She earns a living by making videos if herself whispering into a microphone. It’s so ridiculous that it’s ingenious. Lottie has nearly 1,70,000 subscribers on Youtube. Her channel started way back in 2018 and now she has raked in more than $58,000 by making sexy videos of herself whispering. That’s a lot of money. For that much, I would be willing to make a few sexy whisper videos myself. Although I know for a fact that no one would watch those.

Her videos trigger Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR). This concept has grown in popularity over the last few years. Basically, ASMR is a tingling sensation that makes you feel calm and soothed. Lottie’s whisper videos do exactly that. A lot of her viewers say that her Youtube videos provide a feeling of calmness.

Talking to JAM Press about her success with ASMR and whisper video’s Lottie said, “My mum had heard about [ASMR] on the radio and suggested it to me after I’d been struggling with mental health and sleep. I remember looking it up on YouTube and initially thinking it was the weirdest and funniest thing. After watching it for a few minutes, I then realized that it was a massively relaxing feeling that I had always experienced but didn’t know exactly what it was. I have been hooked ever since.”

Lottie said that because she found her own videos cringy she was surprised to know that a lot of other people enjoyed them. I watched a few of her videos, and though it was oddly satisfying, I will not deny that my cringe-levels were close to maximum. Why would anyone enjoy watching a girl whisper? Maybe I just don’t get it.

Here’s the thing, her videos, though not intended to be are often misinterpreted as sexual. Lottie starts out her video’s by whispering greetings such as “Hello, my darlings” and she role-plays characters like big sisters, stylists and medical practitioners. No wonder people think this is sexual.

Lottie said, “I can understand why slow whispering or the words ‘role play’ can be misinterpreted as being sexual, and there are some female creators who show a bit of cleavage to get more views. It frustrates me because, without giving it a chance, people can easily dismiss ASMR as weird and sexual when actually it seriously helps so many people.”

ASMR really does help a lot of people. All over Youtube, there are videos of people playing with slime, scratching, tapping, blowing and of course like Lottie here, whispering. And no, ASMR is not sexual and it has nothing to do fetishes like a lot of people seem to believe.

Having said that, I still can’t register that Lottie earns $58,000 for making videos of herself whispering into a microphone. I really am shocked. I think I am going to try this. I could pretend to be a puppy during the day and make sexy whisper videos by night. Ah, my parents will be so proud of me.
