The Olympic Games, is an international sports festival that unites people all across the world, by way of calibre, national sentiment and a spirit for sportsmanship. It has been staging the games every fourth year since its commencement. Though perhaps for the first time in all these decades, it has united people not over games or sentiment, but over its logo. In what has been a rather controversial drop of the Parisan 2024 Olympics logo, people from all around the globe have come together to unanimously mock and then disregard the logo, in a bunch of rather comical tweets.

From comparing it to Rachel Greene in F.R.I.E.N.D.S, to calling it a gold version of the famous dating app- Tinder, twitterati has bought its A-game (unlike the design logo), to dismiss it for being unoriginal and underwhelming. And we wouldn’t lie, the first look did in fact hold an uncanny resemblance to the Tinder icon.
In fact, the memes generated have been more entertaining and seem to have put more thought into, than this global icon. And while we really tried hard to see the Paris Olymipcs 2024 logo for what it is – a representation of Marianne and the Olympic flame, all it did was hook us up with (apart from this very layered pun) a visual of a woman with a fringe and bob cut, on a dating app. And no, that is not the voice of our inner woman speaking.
We get it, during times as such, when there is just so much to convey through one single logo and representation, the pressure alone can be insurmountably great to deal with. But even then, how does one miss this extremely obvious and striking similarity to a logo from a neighboring salon, is something we are yet to find out. Don’t believe us?
