Tired of using the same ol’, boring apps? Keep up with the hottest new app launches and rediscover old favourites with Appturday! Appturday’s a weekly post from our Social Media Editor where she rants, raves, and shares the apps she’s currently into.

As a social media manager, you’re kind of expected to have the skills of a photographer, graphic designer, copywriter, and video editor. You surely don’t need me to tell you how important videos are in this day and age, do you?

So I would constantly find myself lamenting my lack of video editing skills…till now. Since I’m the kind who doesn’t have the time or inclination to learn iMovie or Final Cut Pro, I’m blessed to report that the Clips app is upping my social media game, big time! Can I have a Hallelujah?!

Let’s get started with the app, shall we? The Clips app ‘borrow’ from some of the best features of Snapchat and Instagram stories, rolled into a typically Apple UI.

Trust me, you’ll be seeing a lot more videos online with some cool stickers and filters, like the ‘comic book’ and ‘fade’ templates. Eliminating the need for subtitles is my favourite feature, called ‘live titles’, which lead to some cool videos like this one!

Theoretically, the app is chock-a-block with some really cool features. But here’s the catch: you absolutely have to spend some time getting to know the app and tinkering around with it to fully get the hang of the features.

Thankfully, there’s a drop down in the ‘Help’ section, which really helped me wrap my head around things, and get rid of my oh-so-attractive “WTF is happening?!” expression.

My only qualm with the app is that it’s only available on the Apple store RN, which is fair enough, considering it’s a native app. Till then, all my friends with Android phones will just have to deal with it.
