Amazon Prime Has Finally Arrived In India!

Remember when we told you about the imminent arrival of Amazon Prime in India? Well, it’s finally happened! The subscription service has officially launched in the country today and is available on Amazon India’s website. What’s more, you can start off your subscription with a 60-day free trial. After the free trial is up, you will have to pay a subscription fee of Rs 499 a year.

While there is no mention of how long this inaugural amount will be valid, word is, the usual price for a yearly Prime subscription in India will be Rs 999. This is way lower than its cost in the US, which is $99 or Rs 6,700. However, subscribers in the US enjoy some added facilities, including Amazon Video and Amazon Music, the first of which will be coming to India, says Amazon.

The service in India includes unlimited one-day and two-day delivery, with no minimum size for your order. Users can also gain early access to some great deals on Amazon. It also includes deals that can be used only by Amazon Prime members. However, Amazon Prime members cannot avail of free delivery on all products on the website. Only products marked with a Prime check next to them will be available for free delivery. Currently, Amazon charges Rs 100 or Rs 150 for same-day delivery. With Amazon Prime, you just need to pay Rs 50 for same-day delivery! What’s more, products with a delivery charge will only be eligible for regular Amazon users. If you’re a Prime member, you do not need to pay delivery charges at all, unless it’s a same-day delivery, as we mentioned. A total steal, right?

Amazon Prime is currently available in 20 cities in India. If your city is not yet eligible for one-day or two-day delivery, you will receive free deliveries with no minimum purchase restraints. Looks like Amazon really wants to make us all happy!
