Period pains can be excruciating, and many women often resort to painkillers for relief. While these medications offer much-needed respite, their frequent use is not recommended. During an exclusive conversation with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, Bhakshak star Sai Tamhankar shared her thoughts on this pressing issue, advising against the overuse of painkillers during menstrual cycles.

What Sai Tamhankar Said On Using Pain Killers During Periods

Sai Tamhankar while talking about how she deals with periods while shooting said, “Everybody has different tricks, I keep an electric bag and I very rarely pop pills, only when the pain is unbearable.” She further said, “Don’t pop pills girls, taking painkillers too often is not good.” Sai also provided alternative ways to ease periods and do regular exercise and it helps with the pain in a drastic way.

More Ways On How To Deal With Period Pain

Regular taking of painkilling drugs like ibuprofen which fall under nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can cause numerous health problems like gastrointestinal complications – ulcerations and haemorrhages from the stomach or intestines – kidney damage as well as cardiovascular disease at higher risks. By emphasizing this risk, Sai encouraged people to opt for healthier approaches towards handling pain instead of taking too many pills.

1) Heat Therapy: Putting a hot water bag or heating pad on your lower abdomen will help relieve you from muscle tension and cramps.

2) Hydration and Diet: Drinking enough fluids and getting good nutrition such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains that are low in inflammation levels will reduce the period pains.

3) Exercise: Simply doing exercises regularly can improve blood flow hence reducing menstrual cramps severity.

4). Herbal Remedies: Such herbs as ginger, turmeric or chamomile contain anti-inflammatory effects reducing pain would facilitate its diminishing while menses are on.

5) Yoga and Meditation: Yoga practice along with meditation can assist in stress control and ultimately improve general well-being, reducing menstrual pain.
