‘Raped Me In Dreams’:Bihar Woman Approaches Police Against Tantrik

Most people in the West believe India to be an enchanted place. From our culture to our practices and our beliefs – it is unlike most of the countries around the world. And while that may be the case, there is no denying that some of our beliefs are random as well. Whether it is believing in a tantrik to extract souls or believing in mantras to heal the sick – we all have at one point or another given rationality a backseat and let the random practices take over. And if you think that this was the case in the past and that Indians don’t believe in this anymore, let me present you with a recent example of Bihar.

Recently, a woman in Gandhi Maidan, Bihar went to Prashant Chaturvedi, an occultist or tantrik or in January as her son was seriously sick. The tantrik preying on her belief, handed her a mantra and a ritual process that would help in the recovery of her son. But things don’t always go as planned. The son died after 15 days and the woman went to the police station to file a complaint against the tantrik. But not for the reason you think.

She filed a complaint against him in the Kudwa police station stating that the tantrik repeatedly raped her in her dreams. The Kudwa SHO Anjani Kumar who is handling the case said, “After the death of her son, the woman went to the Kali Bari temple where Chaturvedi resides and asked him to clarify how her son died. The woman alleged that Chaturvedi attempted to rape her but her son ‘rescued’ her.”

With regards to the case, he added. “The woman at that time had not complained to the police. She further alleged that Chaturvedi is coming in her dream since then and repeatedly raping her.”

And since they had received the complaint, they interrogated Prashant Chaturvedi, the guy who we imagine was at a complete loss since the entire incident happened in her dreams. The tantrik denied knowing the woman or her son and said that he had never met her. Having no proof or evidence against the occultist, the police released him after they filed a bond with him.

As random as this case sounds, the truth lies in the fact that there are many who still believe in such practices rather than believing in medicine. Not saying that they don’t work, but there is definitely a good chance that medicines and doctor’s orders will work better than believing an occultist.
