Men Reveal Things They Didn’t Know About Women’s Bodies Before Sex, And It Proves We Need Better Sex Ed!

Men and women are built differently – this is a statement that is told to us since the time we are born. Being in school, I remember learning about the reproductive system (well, who doesn’t?) and it was then that I came to know what exactly that statement meant. It comes as no surprise that a woman’s body is not just a bit different from a man’s, and that when it comes to our bodies, there is not much a lot of men seem to know about it. Don’t believe me? Then check this out. Recently, a Reddit user by the name of u/chunkymonkey922 asked a question in the AskMen subreddit, to find out how much men know about women’s bodies.

His question was simple, ‘What is something that surprised you the first time you saw a woman naked?’ Such a simple question got a range of responses, from bizarre and hilarious to sweet, but above all, they were extremely entertaining to read.

1. Positions matter, don’t they?

2. Well, ‘lips’ is a confusing word…

“The labia (which I’d heard people call ‘lips’) weren’t like face lips. I thought women could move them, like prehensile vaginas.”

3. We are humans after all (just like men)

“I think the most shocking thing to me was realizing that women grow hair in the same spots as men — it’s just mostly very light in color and thickness. Girls grow hair on their chest, stomach, butt, back, etc. It’s in all the same places as guys, but not as visible.”

4. We women also do get hot when horny

“That they get quite warm down there when they’re horny too. I don’t know why it never occurred to me, and why I had never heard it before either, but wow. It really surprised me at the time.”

5. Yup, it is!

“The back door is literally by the front door!”

6. A bit of sex-ed is a great way to go

“As a kid, I thought they were completely forward-facing and I was always really worried about how my erection didn’t stick out perpendicularly from my body.”

7. There’s a first time to everything!

10. Educating a boy about women’s bodies is necessary.

“I grew up in a fairly conservative home. I didn’t know what a vagina was until my sister was born when I was 7. I thought they all had boobs and a penis until then.”

11.  If you know how to do it right

While this was the case for some, there was one that even ended up bringing math into it. The user commented, “Just about all vaginas are in the same spot, but the angle at which the vaginal cavity comes into the body is different on all girls. Some girls’ are straight 90 degrees into the body, some lean as far as 45 degrees. Some even have curvature in their vaginal cavity as well.”

As absurd and funny it sounds, there was one that made me laugh the loudest – “Her boobs didn’t honk when I squeezed them.” But while I was laughing there was one comment amidst the other that made me go ‘aww’. It showed the tender and sweet side of the man. His comment was “That it wasn’t just her letting me see her naked — she wanted me to see.”

And that is the crux of it, isn’t it? That both the adults involved are consenting and are equally into the act. What that simple question did was shine a light on the fact that there is so little men know about women’s bodies.

And that is something that needs to be fixed. Men should be more aware of how a woman’s body functions. And this is not just because they can become better sexual partners but also because it will give them an idea of the changes that a woman’s body goes through. It will let them know more about issues that are only faced by women and make them more empathetic as well as respectful towards her and her body.
