Mangaluru Man Sexually Assaulted A 2-Year-Old, And Threw Her Into Fish Tank, Arrested

Sometimes it is easy to forget about the negativity around us when we’re busy celebrating festivities or weddings, just as most of us are right now. Unfortunately, that doesn’t change the fact that nerve-chilling crimes against women are still happening. Moreover, in such times of avid socialising, predators find their chance to prey upon young children for their disgusting motives. To think that these people could harm and prey upon anyone that way is horrifying but when there is a child that falls victim to their monstrous actions, the entire case gets bone-chilling. Regrettably, a 2-year-old toddler in Mangaluru was a victim of sexual assault recently.

A 30-year-old man in Mangaluru has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 2-year-old girl and then proceeding to throw her into a saltwater fish tank in the area of Hoige Bazaar in Karnataka’s Mangaluru on the eve of October 31. The accused’s name is Chandan who is a native of Bihar and works as a labourer within the city.

According to The Indian Express, Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar stated, “The child belongs to a couple who migrated to the city from Bihar for work. When the parents returned home after work on Sunday evening, the baby was missing. Later, the child was found in a fish tank around 9 pm on Sunday, and was rushed to a local hospital where treatment is being given.”

A Mangaluru police officer stated that Chandan lured the child using chocolate before committing the despicable act. The local residents assaulted Chandan before handing him over to the police after which he confessed to the crime post interrogation. The Mangaluru police reported that around 70-80 migrant families live in the area and work for a company that specialises in fish cutting and salting. A case has been filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and a probe is in progress.

I cannot wrap my head around doing such detestable acts but moreover doing such heinous crimes against a toddler. In a nation that worships so many female deities and celebrates, it is beyond me how someone can have the heart to do this to a woman, especially an innocent child.
