Malala Yousafzai Marries Asser Malik In England, Shares Photos On Twitter

I believe that most people in this world deserve to get a happy ending, especially those who’ve faced a lot of trauma at a very young age. I mean, one cannot and should not be defined by the trauma that changed their lives forever. And moving on and succeeding in life is the only way to ensure that you’re not defined by the trauma. One of the people who is ensuring that for herself is Malala Yousafzai. After being shot in the head by the Taliban as a teenager for demanding education for girls, she went on to become one of the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureates. Now, Malala Yousafzai has taken a step forward in her personal life by marrying Asser Malik in England.

On Tuesday, Malala Yousafzai and Asser Malik tied the knot at a small Islamic ceremony – nikkah – in Birmingham, England. The 24-year-old took to her Twitter account to announce the news of her getting married where both the families were present.

Malala Yousafzai, who is one of the world’s most well-known advocates for girls’ education, wrote on Twitter, “Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.”

And even though Malala Yousafzai kept details of her marriage with Asser Malik, a manager for the Pakistan Cricket Board, a secret, she did end up sharing a few pictures from the ceremony. No sooner did she share the good news, congratulatory messages started pouring down in the comment section. Out of the many who wished the couple, Greta Thunberg, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Melinda French Gates, and others also wished both of them a lifetime of happiness.

Honestly, it makes me happy to know that Malala Yousafzai did not let her trauma and her past define her. She fought through it all and moved ahead in her life. And not just in her professional life but even her personal life. Well, all there is left to say is congratulations to the newly married couple!
