Kate Middleton’s 40th Birthday Portraits Pay Tribute To Princess Diana And Queen Elizabeth II

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, or as we know her, Kate Middleton, celebrated her 40th birthday on January 9, 2022. Marking the special occasion, a series of three beautiful portraits of Kate Middleton has taken the internet by storm. Shot by fashion photographer Paolo Roversi, the images feature the Duchess of Cambridge wearing Alexander McQueen designs, styled with accessories from the vanity of the Queen and Princess Diana. And let me tell you that all these images are beyond stunning.

Captioning the pictures, the Instagram handle of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge read as, “Delighted to share a new portrait of The Duchess ahead of her 40th birthday tomorrow. This is one of three new portraits which will enter the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery of which The Duchess is Patron.”

Serving a royal, vintage aesthetic, the three portraits were taken at Kew Gardens back in November and will form part of a project from the National Portrait Gallery, where the duchess is patron. The three locations that she has chosen for display and hold special significance are namely– Berkshire, which witnessed her early childhood. Andrews is where she went to university and began her relationship with her husband and Anglesey is where the couple lived together just before and in the early part of their marriage.

Replicating the old-fashion charm, the Duchess of Cambridge wears a beautiful white tulle, ball-gown which comes attached with statement bows headlining the off-shoulder neckline, teamed with Princess Diana’s pearl drop earrings and hair styled into soft curls. The second image serves a youthful, modern beat, courtesy of the beautiful one-shoulder Alexander McQueen dress that features a balloon sleeve, dipped in a striking shade of red. She further styles all her outfits with delicate diamond earrings loaned from Queen Elizabeth.

What adds to the beauty of the images is her ode to Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret’s portraits throughout 1940s and 1950s. Being fashion-forward and an architect of a conscious wardrobe– be it donning recycled gowns or repeating iconic looks, Kate Middleton has seized a well-deserved spot as the fashion luminary. Exhibiting a confident, ever-smiling persona, the Duchess of Cambridge has always displayed her thoughts through her sartorial choices. The official post on social media also witnessed fan emotions who addressed her as the beautiful “future queen.” The official post came stitched with a special personal note by Kate Middleton which read as, “Thank you for all of your very kind birthday wishes, and to Paolo and the National Portrait Gallery for these three special portraits. C.”

A representative of the royal legacy, she has been associated with various charities and lent her voice to global concerns. Most recently, Kate Middleton delivered a surprise performance, showing off one of her unknown passions, piano playing, when she accompanied singer Tom Walker.
