The recent hottest debate in the country revolves around the Karnata Hijaab row wherein there has been a ban on Muslim girls wearing hijabs to educational institutes. The controversy has had several developments in a very short time period and the news regarding the controversy keeps coming in. - Karnataka High Court passed an order to put the petition before the Chief Justice to constitute a larger bench if needed considering the enormity of questions that are being debated. No interim relief was provided.
- Defence lawyer opposed interim relief, says uniformity of school uniforms and dress codes have existed for a very long time and students have followed the same without complaining until now.
- Petitioner’s advocate seeks interim relief says if there is no restriction then allow students to attend classes wearing hijab instead of leaving them at the mercy of principal and college committee to exercise fundamental rights.
- Any kind of protest or gathering has been banned within a 200-meter radius of all schools, colleges and educational institutes in Bengaluru for the next two weeks. A notice has been issued by the local police.

- Advocate Kamat told the court that the state government’s stand on it has made the situation worse. They have left the students at the mercy of a college committee to exercise their fundamental rights.
- The single bench of the Karnataka High Court passes an order to place the matter of the hijab ban in colleges before the HC Chief Justice in order to consider constituting a larger bench. Judge says that this is a matter of personal laws and it requires a larger bench to decide the same.
- Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray commented on the hijab row saying, “Where there is a prescribed uniform in schools/colleges, it should be followed. Only education should be the focus at centres of education. Religious or political issues should not be brought to schools/colleges”
