Move over heroes, Kangana Ranaut is here with Manikarnika and the trailer is giving us goosebumps. The movie, based on Rani Laxmibai, talks about her journey from a valiant and skilled warrior, to her marriage and her transformation into a leader on the battlefield.
Rani Laxmibai has always been hailed a hero, a woman who was fierce, powerful and her name has been etched in history as a force to reckon with. But to watch it all come alive on screen, that’s mesmerising. There are no heroes here, no men characters to soften the proceedings, to perhaps add a romantic angle to it. Manikarnika is Kangana’s showcase all along. And she does all the heavy weight-lifting with aplomb. She looks at ease in her saree, mischievously playing with flowers and having a laugh, as she does in a armour as she attacks enemies with vigour.
In Manikarnika, Kangana plays many characters in one – she’s a mother, a warrior, a queen- and much more. We love Kangana brings weight to the role, making the character human, relatable and still fabulously inspiring.
It can’t be easy, bringing to life a character that’s so loved and respected but Kangana makes it look easy and we for one, can’t wait to watch this movie on the big screen.
