Did You Know THESE 5 Signs Indicate You Have Liver Damage Due To Diabetes?
Here are 5 signs your liver is being damaged due to diabetes and you didn't know!

In today’s world, getting diagnosed with diabetes is like catching a common cold, due to excessive adulteration in our food and unhealthy lifestyle habits. It’s a known fact that once you are diagnosed with Diabetes, your other organs take a run for their life, but did you know which organ gets hit the hardest? It’s the liver. Here are 5 signs your liver is being damaged due to diabetes,
1) Persistent Fatigue That Refuses To Fade
It’s common to be tired after a long day. But if you’re persistently fatigued, even after you rest or sleep throughout the night, it might be your liver signalling a red flag. An injured liver can’t purge toxins properly, causing them to accumulate in your blood. That toxic load can make you feel tired, groggy, and exhausted all the time. For people with diabetes, this tiredness could be worse because of added strain on the liver from excess blood sugar and fat buildup.
2) Yellowing of Skin or Eyes (Jaundice)
Jaundice is one of the most clear indications of liver malfunction. When your liver is unable to break down bilirubin (a pigment formed when red blood cells are destroyed), it accumulates and results in yellowing of your skin and the white of your eye. Although jaundice may occur due to other causes as well, in diabetics, it usually indicates severe liver stress and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
3) Abdominal Pain or Swelling
When you experience discomfort, tightness, or pain in the upper right quadrant of your abdomen, where your liver is located, it may be inflammation or enlargement of the liver. In advanced cases, you may develop a condition known as ascites, where you have fluid accumulation in the abdomen, leading to swelling that can be seen. This would indicate severe liver damage or even cirrhosis.
4) Abnormal Urine or Stool Colour
Dark urine, which is orange or brown and pale or clay-colored stools may also indicate liver problems. This is due to an inability of the liver to metabolise bile or a leakage of bilirubin into the blood.
5) Stress and Emotional Health
Although stress does not itself harm the liver, prolonged stress does exacerbate blood sugar levels and inflammation, which puts additional strain on your liver. Stress management is key to overall liver and diabetes health.
Consult a doctor as soon as possible whenever you see these symptoms.
