Heeramandi actor Jason Shah recently opened up about his struggles with s*x addiction, along with battles with alcohol and relationships with women. In a revealing podcast interview on the YouTube channel Shaardulogy, Shah described his journey as difficult, noting that some of his worst decisions were made during moments that felt good. He highlighted that s*x addiction was particularly challenging to overcome. Here are five important things to know about s*x addiction,
1) Addiction
S*xual addiction is characterized by various body expressions like a compulsion for s*x, excessive use of pornographic materials, incessant masturbation sessions, repeated thoughts of a s*xual nature and perverted behaviour like voyeurism or exhibitionism among others that someone cannot control which is very detrimental to their physical and mental health status, personal relationships, job performance and overall quality life similar to drug or alcohol addiction which disrupts every aspect of person’s existence.

2) Obsessive Thoughts About S*x
People who have a problem with s*x addiction often have obsessive s*xual thoughts that can become overwhelming or distracting at times. This fixation on s*x takes up so much time that individuals may spend too long planning for it or recovering from the after effects of engaging in it too frequently than usual hence making it more than just looking for pleasure thus indicating another hidden issue that needs attention and intervention.
3) Excessive Masturbation
While masturbation is generally considered a normal and healthy s*xual activity, excessive masturbation can be a sign of s*x addiction. This might involve an inability to control the urge to masturbate, doing so at inappropriate times, or engaging in it so frequently that it causes physical discomfort or harm. For individuals like Shah, this compulsion can be a significant part of their struggle.
4) Cheating on Partners
Addicted people will continue searching for new experiences even if they are already committed to relationships. Examples include engaging in phone s*x, going on chat rooms, looking for one-night stands or paying for s*x. These actions ultimately undermine trust and intimacy in relationships leaving both partners emotionally traumatized.
5) Committing Criminal Offenses
In some cases, s*xual addiction can cause people to engage in some kind of illegal activities such as stalking, rape and child molestation. Though not all s*xual offenders are s*x addicts and that does not mean that being a s*x addict is an excuse for criminal activities but at times the compulsion attached to this addiction may lead to such extreme behaviours. Note that not all those who have this problem will end up committing crimes; however, it raises the probability of indulging in harmful actions if left untreated or unmanaged.
Understanding the complexity of s*x addiction is essential in providing compassion and effective treatment for those affected.
