Reviewed: Sri Lankan Hoppers At Madeira & Mime, Mumbai

Madeira and Mime Review Hauterfly

By now, most Mumbaikars are familiar with Madeira and Mime, the restaurant in Powai. Most of us have spent a lovely Sunday afternoon there or have enjoyed a relaxing Friday night, sipping on their cocktails.

Known for its amazing concept of hiring hearing and visually-impaired waiters, this restaurant gets full points for service and happy faces all around. But what adds a sparkly touch to the whole experience is the lip-smacking food menu.

The delicacies inspired by street food from around the world will leave you satisfied, and how! And they have now added a new country to their list — Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan hoppers at Madeira & Mime have an appam base that is topped with an egg and succulent gravy. Chicken or mutton, the dish will not disappoint.

For vegetarians, there’s the paneer option, sans the egg, but just as delicious.

One bite in, we guarantee food coma. Have it with a smokey whiskey cocktail that will make your taste buds tingle.

While there, also try the Bombil fry fish and chips, which is essentially your standard English staple with a Maharashtrian twist. A handful of pieces, gone in seconds. We’re sure you’ll be calling for round 2.

A warm atmosphere, interesting interiors, and amazing music, I suggest you hurry and try the hoppers asap, because that kind of flavour should not be kept waiting!
