Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has taken social media by storm today! No, she has not released the budget details yet nor has she announced that petrol prices have gone down. But a video of her is doing rounds on social media wherein she has displayed basic human courtesy and the Internet seems to have blown it out of proportion. The video was from the latest event that took place in Mumbai. The event was attended by our Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman where Padmaja Chunduru, the Managing Director of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), was giving a speech.
Internet Lauds Nirmala Sithraman’s Gesture
In the video, in between her speech, Padmaja Chunduru pauses and asks for water, and till she gets the bottle, she continues her speech. But before the organisers can get a bottle of water for her, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is seen offering her water. Both also engage in a brief conversation before Nirmalaji goes back to her seat. Watch the video below.

What we do not get is why this gesture by Nirmala Sitharaman is this being hyped so much? Isn’t this a basic human courtesy to offer water to someone who has asked for it? In fact, we also make a point of offering water to food delivery persons or mail persons who come to deliver our mails and parcels to our doorsteps in this scorching heat. So, our finance minister here displayed nothing but basic humanity towards NSDL Managing Director Padmaja Chunduru. People really need to get over this trivial matter and actually focus on what is important!

The event was held in Mumbai and launched a new investors programme for students called Market ka Eklavya.
