Blue Liquid Hurled At Woman Who Accused Rajasthan Minister’s Son Of Rape. This Is Why Women Don’t Report Crimes Against Them

There is no end to crimes against women. It appears that no adequate protection for women is provided to prevent such occurrences. Every day, news about such crimes becomes more shocking and pathetic, adding to women’s fear. There is a reason why women are afraid to report crimes and the least effort is put by the authorities to tackle them. Victims whose cases are still pending in court should at least receive the bare minimum of protection from the authorities. Due to a lack of it, one such victim was subjected to an attack in a public place. The incident was reported in Delhi, in which a woman was attacked with a blue liquid.

The attack took place in a southeast Delhi neighbourhood on Saturday. According to news reports, the 23-year-old girl was attacked with a blue liquid by a group of unidentified men. She immediately reported the incident to the concerned authorities. The girl has also claimed that she was raped by a Rajasthan minister’s son, the case for which is ongoing. The reports further inform that the DCP of southeast Delhi, Esha Pandey said that a call was made to the control room about the attack and officers immediately rushed to the scene. The girl reported that she was walking with her mother when the attackers threw the blue liquid at her. DCP further stated that the girl was examined in AIIMS Trauma Centre, and the blue liquid is ink, as per Hindustan Times.

A case has been registered on the incident under Indian Penal Code(IPC) sections 195A (threatening any person to give false evidence), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 323 (causing hurt), and 34 (common intention). The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has also issued a notice to the Delhi Police, requesting a copy of the FIR filed in the case, and detailed information on the accused arrested and what actions have been taken. The DCW also asked for a report on the steps taken by the police to ensure the safety and security of the complainant and her family.

After a point of time, we can also get tired of asking questions about women’s safety to the authorities, but the crimes will not stop. Instead of just asking women to report crimes, there is also a need to create a safe environment that encourages them to do so.
