#HauteSpaces: Anita Dongre’s Royal Flagship Store In Delhi

Who doesn’t love a pretty home/work space? I know the answer to that one. So now, every week I will go in search of the most stunning indoor spaces in our country that will inspire the inner decorator in you. Unique, colourful, or quirky, these photo stories are sure to leave you spellbound, like mouth-hanging-open spellbound. If you know or use a space that fits the description, ping me and we can chat! It can be anything from a home to an office, a studio to a restaurant — if it is fun, I’m game.

When fashion meets decor, it is always a beautiful sight. And once again we have been given a fantastic proof of exactly that – Anita Dongre’s new store in Delhi. The designer who is known for adding traditional touches to contemporary styles, has shown us time and again, why she is one of the top most names in the industry. With two stores in Mumbai and one in the capital, she completed the number by adding one more store in Delhi. And she went all out!

If we were to describe the store in one word it would definitely be royal. It is a lavish two storey store, making it her largest in the country. It is a good 10,000 sq.ft space and literally a heaven for all shopaholics, especially if you are going to attend a wedding soon. White from the exterior, it is the complete opposite from the inside, keeping the element of surprise intact. You are welcomed by monochrome designed tiles as soon as you enter the premises, with walls showcasing peacock and elephant prints. That’s when you know – it is going to be a journey of rich Indian heirlooms. The stairs are kept simple with a few objects on the way that fill the space but not making it look like a mess.

The floor where the clothes are kept is the real deal and by the time you reach them, you are already in awe. Few walls have the jharokha designs engraved on them, lotus patterns that form a gateway, reminding you of old palatial homes. Golden mannequins adorned in ivory clothes strike a beautiful balance. Anita Dongre’s new store in Qutub, New Delhi is a vision. But what’s even better is that the décor is bright, colourful, and extremely cheerful, thus making the creations stand out. Inspiration has been drawn from the handicraft work of artisans from Udaipur and Jaipur, where Anita has collected tons of memories and used it to decorate her store. There are paintings all over the store, some with natural scenes while others with more intricate detailing on them. Silver and copper showpieces lie on the centre and side tables, plants are kept at various nooks to keep the vibe fresh, sofas and armchairs look like they have been taken straight out of a king’s bedroom — in fact, this space may even make you feel you are in one.

Pay this store a visit to get inspired, take a dive into Indian heritage, feel royal, and obviously shop! Can’t make it to the capital? Check out the images below.
