US Woman Gets $1.75M From Salon For Loosing Her Leg During Pedicure! *OMG*

US Woman Gets $1.75M From Salon For Loosing Her Leg During Pedicure! *OMG*

Did you ever hear of a simple pedicure turning into the wildest nightmare? Well, that’s sadly a transition, US-based Clara Shellman witnessed. While, pedicures are supposed to be relaxing, this one certainly was deadly. An incident that happened in the year 2018, has found its way to the headlines again, with Florida based nail salon paying a sum of $1.75 million to the injured woman for the unfortunate incident.

According to Tampa Bay Times, Clara Shellman said that during a visit to the salon in 2018, an employee cut her foot while treating it. A resulting infection was worsened by Clara’s severe peripheral arterial disease, which reduces blood flow to the limbs. Furthermore, Clara sued the salon, in May 2020 (almost two years post the accident), stating the use of unhygienic tools by the employees and how the salon puts its customers at risk with untrained staff. I mean, where’s the lie here?

And in between the consecutive visits to the doctor, Clara Shellman also lost her home after being burdened by medical expenses due to the treatment. Denying the allegations put on them, the salon twisted the saga to be Clara’s fault and that she did not take enough effort to stop the infection (are you kidding me?). But thankfully now, after three years, Clara Shellman, has settled with the salon, and according to court documents filed on December 16, the compensation amount is close to $1.75 million. While Paul Fulmer, who represented, 55-year-old Clara, from Morgan & Morgan law firm, said that she deserved the full amount of the settlement but they were surprised at the fact that Tammy’s Nails 2 (the accused salon) agreed to $1.75 million considering Clara’s pre-existing condition. The salon has now closed all its services.

I am glad the settlement finally happened, observing Clara’s state in the situation, but sadly the time it took for the salon to finally agree is problematic to me. However, no amount can compensate for the life-altering injury, but let’s hope the money helps her settle the financial loss she bore during the time.
