Star Trek Barbie Dolls Are Now A Thing!

By  |

Can you believe that it’s been nearly 50 years since Star Trek first aired? You better believe it. And in order to mark the 50th anniversary of this epic series, Mattel and CBS have teamed up to release a trio of Barbie dolls inspired by the characters of Uhura, Captain Kirk, and Spock.

This, however, is not a first. Way back in 1996, Mattel released Star Trek versions of good old Barbie and Ken to mark the series’ 30th anniversary. In 2009, Mattel also teamed up with Paramount Pictures to release dolls modeled after Uhura, Captain Kirk, and Spock from the film’s reboot. But we must admit that this version is by far the best looking!

The three dolls sport outfits worn by the characters in the original series. The Uhura doll is equipped with a communicator and a tricorder. She even wears hoop earrings that are exactly like the ones Nichelle Nichols wore in the series. Captain Kirk comes with a communicator and a phaser and is quite a sight in his gold uniform. The Spock doll stands tall and proud, with the signature Vulcan “live long and prosper” salute.

Currently, the dolls are available for pre-order in the US and Canada and priced at $34.95. They will officially be available for sale from July 15 onwards.

Here’s a look at the dolls in all their glory!
