#HauteSounds: Rahman Is Asking Trump To ‘Take It Easy’ In The New Version Of Urvashi!

Last week, the iconic singer-composer, AR Rahman, turned 50 and he decided to thank his fans for the wishes in the most amazing way. True to his style and much to the delight of his fans, he recreated the famous 90’s song Urvashi Urvashi, but with a twist. Yeah, that song most of us don’t understand and can only hum its chorus, is back in our lives, and how! He put up a status on social media recently asking people to contribute to the lyrics for a revised version of the song. And the frenzy began, people went crazy, and the suggestions filled up Rahman’s inbox. Finally, he shortlisted the best ones and came up with the song.

The song takes an indirect dig at Trump and also talks about demonetisation. Talking about the song, he said in a statement, “The most beautiful thing about art is that it belongs to everyone and crowdsourcing is a great way to get newer audiences to connect. It was a fabulous experience and what we’ve got is some interesting stuff filled with references to current events, which is just as vibrant as the original one.”

The song that is entirely in Tamil, will be aired on MTV unplugged on January 14, but the recorded version is already up on their Facebook page and up here, of course! It’s gone viral, but no surprise there, right? While I groove to the fab tunes and relive my childhood, I will also go find a translator to help me understand the lyrics!
