Netflix Has Announced Its First INDIAN Original Series!

We have some MAJOR news to dish out and it’s beyond fantastic!

Netflix — the digital TV network that’s given us epic shows like Orange Is The New Black and Narcos — has announced its first original Indian show! What’s more, it has partnered with Anurag Kashyap’s collective Phantom Films to produce a series based on Vikram Chandra’s gritty, best-selling novel Sacred Games.

The critically-acclaimed book explores the dark underbelly of Mumbai, including organised crime, corruption, politics, and espionage that lie beneath India’s economic renaissance. A fast-paced thriller, Sacred Games is an epic masterwork of richness and power that interweaves the lives of the privileged, the famous, the wretched and the bloodthirsty.

The bilingual (Hindi and English) show will be set in Mumbai and boast a local and international cast. Once completed, the series will be available globally on the streaming service, so you can bet it’s going to get some phenomenal eyeballs all over the world.

For its part, Phantom Films has given us some great movies in the recent past, including Queen, NH10Lootera, and Masaan, so we’re excited to see what the directors’ collective does with Sacred Games. No word yet on whether Kashyap will take on directorial duties for the series, though.
