Booker Prize 2022 Longlist: 8 Out Of 13 Books Are By Female Authors, 20-YO Leila Mottley Being The Youngest!

The worldwide bookish community waits for the annual Booker Prize awards. Book nerds want to know which authors from across the world have made it to the list and which novel will win this highly coveted award. After the International Booker Prize 2022 shortlist award was bestowed upon India’s Geetanjali Shree, for her book ‘Tomb Of Sand’, the Booker Prize 2022 longlist has been announced.

A total of 13 books have been selected for the longlist from across the globe. It is quite interesting to note that of these 13, 8 books are written by female authors. The Booker Prize longlist features authors who are mostly American. The list also features Elizabeth Strout who has been previously nominated for the list as well.

The highlight of this year’s longlist is that the youngest author to find their name nominated in the list is the 20-year-old Leila Mottley is a woman as well. Her book titled ‘Nightcrawling’ has been a New York Times bestseller. The oldest author on the list is the 87-year-old Alan Garner who will celebrate their 88th birthday on the night the winner will be announced.

Another interesting fact to note about the Booker Prize longlist is that Claire Keegan’s ‘Small Things Like These’ is the smallest book with 116 pages in it. The list also features debutante authors – Maddie Mortimer, Leila Mottley and Selby Wynn Schwartz. This time the list also has two publishing houses making their debuts – Influx Press and Sort of Books.
