What Is Non-Alcoholic Hepatitis?
Non-alcoholic Hepatitis or NASH is liver damage which may be caused by a buildup of fat in one’s liver. Non-alcoholic Hepatitis is actually part of a couple of conditions known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. This condition is also commonly called “fatty liver.” Most of the time this buildup in our liver doesn’t cause any problems or lead to any symptoms. But for some, the fat buildup damages the cells in the liver. Due to this damage, the liver stops working at its full efficiency.
In some cases, it might get worse and cause scars in the liver causing cirrhosis. But this is not always the case and is rare. While non-alcoholic hepatitis can happen due to one’s drinking habits, it’s not necessary. It can also happen to people with no history of alcohol abuse.
