I like to believe that I am a strong, sensible and confident young woman. And while I can more or less account for all of those adjectives that I oh-so-modestly use for myself, I may have been made to question my level of confidence. This, after seeing a woman by the name of Jessica George go viral on Twitter for displaying uber sexy levels of self-confidence on a subway ride and giving all of us a run for our money.

Thanks to the wonder that is social media, Jessica George who was taking a subway ride in New York earlier this week, was trending worldwide for, get this, being her own confident self. Jessica thought of getting a picture of herself clicked, and did not even feel the need to ask anyone for it. She took advantage of an empty seat, put her phone on a selfie timer and posed away.
And they weren’t even quick, awkward pictures that most of us end up clicking, you know shying away either from the camera or from the people around, hoping they don’t think you are crazy. She was quick to set the camera up to capture her good side and got seriously posing to get the kind of pictures she wanted for herself. Not realising hers wasn’t the only camera capturing her, a fellow passenger Ben Yahr, posted a video of the woman and her incredible poise and confidence and the internet rejoiced at the sight of this happy woman with a devil-may-care attitude.

With more than 6.5 million views and 200,000 likes and counting, the woman was applauded for simply being her unabashed self. Which made us think about the thing we miss out on account of our social anxiety and the ever looming question ‘Log kya kahenge’ playing on repeat in our minds.
