30-Year-Old Mumbai Man Arrested For 18th Case Of Sexual Abuse. Why Is A Clearly Repeat Offender Roaming Around So Freely?
In a shocking incident from Mumbai’s Kandivali, a thirty-year-old man, Kalpesh Devdhare has been arrested for molesting a minor girl. The accused already has 17 sexual abuse cases against him and this makes it his 18th case of molestation. He was arrested 17 times between 2011 and 2020 in cases of molestation, including two cases of kidnapping. Kalpesh Davdhare has cases registered against him at several police stations including Vikhroli west, Borivali east, Goregaon West, Powai, and Malad east.
According to the police, at the age of 16-17, the accused became addicted to watching adult content in video parlours, after which he began molesting women.
According to the source, in the latest incident, Kalpesh Devdhare has been accused of molesting a nine-year-old girl while she was playing in her housing society. The accused lured her away from the group and sexually assaulted her. This case comes under the jurisdiction of Naya Nagar Police station and took place on Wednesday. Under the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, an FIR was filed. The police further said that the accused was a driver by profession. He earlier lived with his family but was abandoned by them when they learned of his heinous crimes.
The Crime Branch has taken over the investigation. A senior inspector of the Crime Branch, Aviraj Kurade said that the accused will be presented before the sessions court.

It is deeply saddening that a criminal like Kalpesh Devdhare was left to roam freely even after 17 registered cases against him. This also makes me wonder what about the cases that might not have been filed against him. I am sure there will be many. The case gives room to so many questions. How can our justice system be so feeble to not decide on the fate of this molester, and take no strong actions against his pathetic crimes? What did the above-mentioned police do to get hold of him and put him behind bars? Did all the 17 crimes fall on deaf ears, that an 18th was required for it to become news? The lack of strong judgements even in the smallest of cases is what gives criminals like Kalpesh Devdhare courage.
