11 Things You’ll Only Understand If You Are The Youngest Child

The youngest child is often perceived to be the most pampered, the centre of everyone’s attention, and someone who can get away with almost anything. And for the most part, it’s true! But along with the perks come some disadvantages as well. While it is pretty amazing to have an elder sibling (or not), here are some things you go through as the youngest sibling, whether you like it or not.

1.  You were always dominated.

Your elder siblings made you do stuff for them all the time. From fetching endless glasses of water to running errands, you were the scapegoat. They dominated you and treated you as per their mood swings. And yes, they made you their slave, especially when your parents weren’t at home.

2.  You were blamed for everything that goes wrong.

No matter what broke in the house, or what went missing, all the fingers were pointed at you first.

3. Your opinions were not taken seriously.

‘You’re a kid, what do you know?’ And that was the end of the conversation.

4. You were always compared to your older siblings.

ALWAYS. From the way you look to how you dress, and your grades to your hobbies, your family compared you to your siblings every chance they got!

5. You always lost fights.

Since you lacked in size and strength, you were bound to lose sibling fights. No surprises then that you were the one who ended up crying and giving up.

6. You hardly had any personal space.

You had to share your bedroom with your sibling, and chances are they tried to get the bigger and better half of the bed, closet and other any available space. Plus, they annoyed you, fought with you, and harassed you at will.

7. You learned from their mistakes.

One of the biggest advantages is that you got to learn from your older sibling’s mistakes, and made better decisions because of that. They were and still are your mentors and you know you’ve benefited from their success.

8. You always had help for your school projects.

Your elder sibling was the one responsible to help you with all your school projects (along with mom of course), so you didn’t have to worry about anything.

9. You got away with ALMOST anything.

One of the biggest perks of being the youngest sibling is that at least 85 per cent of the time, you can get away with what you want, thanks to your older siblings for paving the way.

10. You’re always considered a baby.

No matter how old you become, you’re still a little baby in the eyes of your family, and will be treated as one.

11. You know you always have someone to look out for you.

No matter how much they teased you, fought with you and complained about you, your older siblings will always hold a special place in your heart. They’re your guardians until the end of time.
