The Rose Perfume That Farozan Wants To Gift Herself In 2018!

By  |

Let’s get real for a moment; 2017 was the worst. And the stress of it all did take a toll on our health. Naturally, we owe it to ourselves to do whatever self-care routine it takes to not feel overwhelmed and bogged down with what’s happening around us.

On days when I’m too tired, my coping mechanism includes a hot shower, which is followed by a spritz of perfume, before I put on my cosiest PJs. Other days, I treat myself to a beauty routine that’s totally luxurious and rejuvenating. This usually includes lighting my favourite scented candle, exfoliating my skin, followed by a spritz of face mist, using a cooling sheet mask, and sealing it all in with a night cream from Forest Essentials. The last step is my favourite, it’s applying a tiny spritz of perfume before I hit the sack.

I know it sounds weird, but for me, some of my strongest and happiest memories are tied to scents, and I often reach for them when I’m a bit low. Whether it’s slyly sniffing my dad’s after shave to take me back to my childhood, or spraying on a bit of DKNY’s Be Delicious whenever I miss my sister, perfumes are a gateway that help transport me to happier times. While I know that Clinique’s Happy will be the scent of my early 20s, I feel like I should treat myself to a new fragrance for my birthday (It’s January 9 – in case you want to send presents).

Forest Essentials Parfum Intense, Desi Gulab

I’ve been looking for a rose-based fragrance that I could include as part of my night-time self-care routine because I’ve read that the flower has been traditionally used to ease anxiety and stress.  After sampling it in-store, I’ve currently got my heart set on Forest Essentials’ new Desi Gulab Parfum Intense, a single flower perfume that’s been made using ancient Ayurvedic techniques!

Forest Essentials prides itself on their high quality products, and honestly you can tell the difference with one sniff! The desi gulab in this parfum is the Kannauj rose, a flower that’s been used for perfumes since the times of the Mughals!

The fragrance is layered and complex, and I’d say this rose perfume is equal parts feminine and flirtatious, with an earthy quality that’s far from the synthetic ‘Pure Seduction’ VS sprays so many people use! It’s literally a field of desi gulab in a bottle– perfect for a 26-year-old who occasionally needs to stop and smell the roses, but happens to live in polluted Mumbai.
