Whenever a celebrity is talking about their fitness regimes, I get super excited to know what they do to maintain their bodies and stay healthy. And today we have Shilpa Shetty Kundra who is widely known for being a fitness diva talking about the fitness and wellness rules that she follows on Kareena Kapoor Khan’s talk show What Women Want. While telling us how she maintains such a fantastic body, she also debunked multiple myths that are still widely believed. Take notes people, because we sure did.

Myth 1: Diet food is tasteless

According to Shilpa, there are various “preconceived” notions about diet food. She says that people expect diet food to be tasteless, cooked in less oil which is a myth she is trying to debunk. This is why when she is cooking on her Youtube channel she tries to give alternatives to make healthy food tasty and healthy. She also says that the trick is to eat in awareness and also when you are buying something from the supermarket to read the label.

Myth 2: Running away from food helps lose weight

While Shilpa was talking about how much she loves to eat, she also spoke about how wrong it is for people to run away from food. It really surprising how many people believe that the only way to lose weight is to not eat. It is a myth that Shilpa debunks in this interview. She says don’t run away from food but focus on practicing mindful eating. According to Shilpa, it is important to keep an eye out on how, when, what and why you are eating what you’re eating. These really are wise words to live by.

Myth 3: Carbs are your worst enemies

As long you know what to eat and how much to eat, carbohydrates are not your worst enemy. That is exactly what Shilpa is saying as well. All carbs are not bad they give you the energy to survive through the day. She says that it important to pick and choose your carbs, for example, have a sweet baked potato instead of fried potato. Remember this the next time you order that extra plate of fries.

Myth 4: All fad diets work

According to Shilpa, the people who do keto should be beaten up. I’m not sure I agree with that because it does work for a few people. But, the rest of these fad diets that pop up every few years are definitely a load of BS. She says that she practices eating right and not eating after 8 pm which really works for her as I am sure you’ll can see.

Myth 5: Going to the gym means you neglect your diet

Kareena asked Shilpa what is that one colossal mistake that people make when it comes to fitness. She answered saying that a lot of people pay up for a gym, go running every day and then eat fatty foods like a samosa afterward and that is not okay. We agree that is one myth that needs to be done away with.

Myth 6: It is not okay to slip up and cheat on your diet

Debunking this myth, Shilpa says she does cheat on her diet not only once a week, but sometimes even twice a week. She believes in one cheat mean as long as you are determined to follow your diet. She says that if you put your mind to something as simple as not eating sugar for a week, do it. But you can cheat on your diet once in a while, it is perfectly okay. She also says that diets are a matter of trial and error, whatever makes you feel healthy is what you should stick to even if you slip sometimes.

Myth 7: It is difficult to stick a diet if you are a foodie

Shilpa says she and her husband Raj Kundra are both major foodies. But she believes the “the mind is more powerful than the body” and if you put your mind to something and decide you don’t want to do something, you automatically adjust to it. Determination is vital for people who want to stick to their diets.
