Indian designer Rahul Mishra presented at this season’s Paris Couture Week. The star designer’s incredible new collection was a presentation of his love for couture. With the collection titled We The People, the designer mastered the art of embroidery that describes India’s rich heritage in design. Mishra’s approach towards colours and wildlife is visible through patterns and his signature floral designs.

This time again, Mishra aims at paying homage to Indian artisans, who make up the team at his atelier. Crafted couture at its core, the designs reimagine his signature style with mixed media patchwork, embroideries and 3D appliqué work. What interested the onlookers was Mishra’s approach towards re-imagining his own work from a few months back. As noticed, the designer was one of the most chosen names by celebrities, who arrived at the NMACC gala. Besides many Indian names, stars like Zendaya and her stylist–Law Roach, paid homage to India in eclectic country-made couture.

Marking her debut in a vibrant blue saree, Zendaya walked the red carpet in Mishra’s most loved design. Later taking his inspiration to the Paris Couture Week, Mishra recreated a new version of the same. Honouring his own popular design worn by Zendaya, the designer gave the saree a makeover with a new colour palette.

Playing with whimsical pastels and glitter, the designer built his new collection, with inspiration from his own past designs. Metallic embroidery and chord work-soaked fabrics played an imperative role throughout the range. Some of the pieces visibly took inspiration from Mishra’s custom-made coat for stylist Law Roach. Florals, bold appliqué work and lotus patches on the coat depicted an upgraded version of the Rahul Mishra couture.

At this year’s Paris Couture Week, we also spotted actress Sonam Kapoor, taking the front-row seats at the Dior showcase.
