The reason for us being this divided is Yami Gautam, who tore our team of peaceful fashion enthusiasts apart. How? It’s this divisive but definitely fascinating outfit she wore at an event last night.
IMO, the outfit is right on point with the kind of message it wanted to send. This is a very unusual choice for a red carpet appearance. It features a blazer dress on one half and a robe dress on the other, both made out of contrasting prints, with a third print featured on the inseams. I, the fashion writer, am in love with the look. How dare she dress up in this explosion of prints and look so effortlessly stylish? It may not be conventional, but major props to her styling team who dug up this gem and her, to pull it off like it’s NBD.
Having said that, here are some of the other interesting perspectives on the outfit. While some of my colleagues think the look is trying too hard, some were downright confused by it. Did the tailor run out of one fabric or did they ration car seat covers to create the inner lining of the dress? Who knows! For our sake, we snooped around to see how the designer intended it to be and it’s this.
This line of unisex designs is super cool and has this sartorial choice by Yami a total win for me. It is refreshing to see this experimental style on a popular celeb when most others are using the same old formulas that work. What do you think about this look from Yami? Let us know!
