Trend To Try: Appliqué And Embroidery Are The New Florals

applique-trend_hauterfly

Even though we bid adieu to spring a while back, florals have been a staple for everyone this warm season. Twisting floral fashion around a little bit, we have seen a resurgence of patchwork, appliqué, and embroidery hit both the runway, red carpets, and celeb style. A blast from the past, we spotted celebs such as Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut, and Taapsee Pannu killing this look with appliqués and patchwork in different forms. Internationally, the Emmy Awards 2016 saw a whole lot of floral embroidered dresses and gowns, with 3-D fabric patches and etched stitching.

Now, even though my first choice for appliqués might not be bugs crawling up my dress (Taapsee doesn’t seem to mind though), patchwork and embroidery such as the Zara denim jacket Kangana’s wore, or even the sporty dress that Alia donned just brings back stylish memories from the past eras. It’s perfect for an edgy and funky casual look. You’re also probably going to turn a few heads if your appliqués are pretty intriguing *holla out to Taapsee again*. If you’re thinking something more on the lines of glamorous rather than edgy, then I would suggest floral embroidery instead of appliqués. Adds a little touch of class to your ensemble!

We’ve curated some interesting appliqué and embroidered pieces to replace your florals.
