London Fashion Week finally happened, and one of the emerging trends of the season was ‘drousers’. Yes, you heard that right…drousers. This well-imagined term is a combination of pairing a dress with trousers.
So let’s make this clear, India made ‘drousers’ a thing a while ago — ummm, salwar kameez anyone? Wearing a dress over a pair of trousers has been our cultural fashion statement for the longest time ever — whether it’s an anarkali, churidar, or sharara, these are pretty much the basics of the Indian version of this so-called new trend.
Keeping that aside, in a modern, contemporary fashion sense, a lot of Bollywood celebrities and designers have been using the concept of ‘drousers’.
Alia Bhatt was spotted a while ago at the Star Screen Awards in a Sachin & Babi ensemble, that was pretty much a gorgeous hi-low hem dress paired with skinny trousers.
If you’re talking about a more modern Indian ethnic approach, then we spotted Priyanka Chopra in an embellished Anamika Khanna duo.
And going entirely rustic desi was Sonam Kapoor in a Natasha J geometric dress and a pair of palazzos. For us, it’s one style taken multiple ways — so LFW, this ain’t a new one for us.
