Zahra’s Checklist: 10 Tie-Dye Pieces That Are Seriously Sophisticated

Tie-Dye Trend 2016_Hauterfly

I think by now there’s something of a 70s fatigue that’s set in, in fashion. We’ve all loved the return of flared jeans and off-shoulder tops, but truth be told I’m kinda over the era now. Having said that, there’s one seventies-inspired Summer 2016 trend that’s always been a part of my wardrobe and I’m never going to retire it.

Thanks to my frequent trips to Goa, I always have a stash of cheap and chic flea market dresses in the beach bum’s ultimate psychedelic print — tie-dye! But let’s be clear about this: our favourite international houses sent down some superbly elevated takes on the trend for SS2016, including BCBG Max Azria, Raquel Allegra and Altuzarra. Closer home, Karishma Shahani of Ka-Sha and Sailex have been dabbling with tie-dye for a few seasons now, and this season Nimish Shah of Shift has given the trend an unexpected yet utterly feminine swirl that’s left us wanting more.

Naturally, the high street has taken a serious liking to the trend too, with some chic iterations that are pocket-friendly and guaranteed to have you dreaming about the beach in no time. These tie-dye printed outfits are a great alternative to the same old tired florals, and definitely more interesting visually. So while I’m still a few years away from retiring to Goa in my assortment of tie-dye dresses, there’s no reason why I can’t atleast look the part every once in a while, no?

To get a jump start on the trend, keep scrolling for a selection of some chic tie-dye pieces available right now.
