Fashion for most people comes free from the judgements of height, weight, colour or size. And while we definitely love to stick to the idea of “wear what you love,” some easy styling tips to dress your body right will help you embrace your true style. Like most of us, I being a short girl struggled to find designs that helped me embrace my body. From getting denim altered to staying away from shapeless designs, it took me quite some time to understand the right size for myself. So, if you’re also a short girl, struggling to shop for yourself, here are a few tips to help you dress right for your body type.
Short Hemlines
The shorter the hemlines, the taller you’ll look. The idea behind wearing a short-length dress is to create an illusion of longer legs, which makes you look taller. Here, you can experiment with mini dresses, and short-length skirts and avoid going for midi length dresses, or long maxi outfits.
Neckline Choice
Short women should ideally opt for a deeper neckline. The length of the neckline helps create the illusion of a taller neck, adding more height to your look. In this case, you should avoid wearing closed necks or box necklines. Layering fabric or jewellery around your neck is also a bad idea.
Nude heels
While most short girls love to stack up on a bunch of heels, the colour of your favourite footwear can also make a big difference. By choosing a pair of nude heels, you create the illusion of taller legs. Excessive colour blocking on your toes, can cut your height short, and even make you look tinier than you already are. So, make sure you choose colours that match your skin tone and help elevate your entire look. In terms of silhouettes, make sure you avoid ankle straps.
Don’t colour block Go monochrome
Extensive colour blocking is a no-no for short women. The idea of spreading garments in the right proportion is always a drill when colour-blocking an outfit. The two shades or too many colours may cut your body in half, and make you look shorter than your actual height. Instead, go for monochromatic pairing, and opt for the same colour from head to toe.

Anti-fit isn’t your fit
The biggest mistake that short girls make is picking anti-fit or oversized silhouettes. In order to embrace your actual height, make sure you look for silhouettes that stick to your body. Here, look out for straight-fit denim jeans, clothing items that hug your waist perfectly, and help you embrace your curves.
So, which of these tips are you trying?
