#HauteHack: How To Prevent Your Jeans From Fading

Picture this scene: You’re putting your favourite dark-wash denims in the washing machine and you just can’t help but let out a sigh of despair. The lovely, deep colour is wearing off and that makes you very unhappy. You have to accept that some things are just not in your control and you can’t do a thing about it.

While your favourite pair of jeans does not require regular laundering, keeping its original colour intact is a universal problem. (Some of us just do not enjoy a faded pair of dark denims, ok?) However, there’s one thing you can do from preventing the colour from fading and it’s super easy and super cheap. You probably had no idea white vinegar could save the day, did you?

Add a cup of distilled white vinegar to a bucket of cold water and soak your jeans in this mixture for an hour. Then hang it out to dry. Absolutely no detergent required — this only quickens the fading process, and you don’t want that. Vinegar helps to lock in the dye and keep your denims dark (the odour will fade as it dries). If you prefer to machine wash your denims, toss a cup of vinegar minus the detergent into the machine and use the hand-wash setting.

P.S. If you find dirt on your jeans, clean it using a soft bristle washing brush.
