Stella McCartney And Adidas Create The Most Sustainable Shoes Ever

Sustainability is more than a buzz word in fashion. To combat the appalling way we treat our planet Adidas had announced in 2016 that it would roll out one million pairs of sneakers made with Parley for the Oceans recycled ocean plastic, by 2018 the brand had produced five million pairs, and if you think that’s superseding all expectations think again, as this year the brand plans to drop 11 million pairs of shoes containing recycled plastic.
With Adidas upping its sustainability game, designer Stella McCartney has collaborated with the brand, once again, to launch her most eco-conscious collection yet. The range is a fantastic marriage of sports performance, technology, and fashion. Most of the raw materials that have gone into the making of the collection is upcycled plastic waste that’s been converted into high-performance workout wear.

The graphic printed gear which will center around an earth-tone palette is inspired by nature, and what strikes us the most is its youthful appeal. What’s even more cool to note is that 75 per cent of each Parley Ocean Plastic piece is crafted from rubbish.

McCartney’s tapped singer Grimes, who she has worked with previously, to launch the line. The artist’s commitment to never compromise on her own identity, attracted the designer to her aesthetic. She lends a creative edge to the collection with her sense of style.

While bringing sustainability to each and every piece is no easy feat, McCartney wants to offer game-changing environmentally friendly options in a crowded market.
