Sonam Kapoor’s Coronation Concert Gown Is A Tribute To Two Popular Women In Fashion And India
She nailed the look!
Last evening, actress Sonam Kapoor scripted history with her presence at the Coronation concert in honour of King Charles III. The actress walked the global stage, and addressed the crowd with a warm “namaste,” marking her spoken word performance at the concert. Followed by the major ceremony, that announced King Charles III as the 40th monarch of Britain, the concert took place at the Windsor Castle. For the momentous occasion, Kapoor made sure to slip into a statement look, exhibiting her styling prowess.

In pictures shared on her Instagram handle, the actress was seen wearing a whimsical spring-appropriate gown. The off-shoulder gown on Kapoor was styled by Nikhil Mansata. The special look was curated by Kapoor’s two favourite, and most styled designers–Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead. Marinating the aesthetics of the two female designers, Kapoor trusted a crisp gown with clean pleats.

The floral overlay on the silhouette featured a cluster of blooming flowers, dipped in a variety of shades. The silhouette exhibited a whimsical blend between classic formals and British style, featuring an off-shouldered flap neckline, a fitted bodice, and crisp pleats, that supported her little twirl.
In a caption, dedicated to the design genius of these two designers, Kapoor wrote–”I’m honoured to mark the unforgettable occasion of the #Coronationconcert by wearing the collaborative vision of two of the most incredible designers from the two countries I’m lucky to call home..” The collaborative design featured Wickstead’s iconic silhouette style and Anamika Khanna’s contribution to the print. Seeking inspiration from the 17th and 18th-century calico prints, the design honoured the fashion and trade relationship between India and Great Britain.

Kapoor’s collaboration with the two designers, also signifies her close-knit bond with them, honouring the many times she has worn their work in the past. Sonam completed the look with two pea-sized drop earrings, a tennis necklace, and hair matching the dreamy vibe of the entire look, through easy open curls. For makeup, the actress decided to go subtle and dewy with a little hint of smoky eyes, and pink lip gloss. What we loved about the look was the interesting blend between minimalism and statement-making, which is a signature Sonam style move made for a special occasion.
