Sonakshi Sinha Roots For “Fashion That Is Kind To Animals” In New PETA Campaign. We Think It’s Great!
Celebrities never shy away from contributing their bit to a social cause. Many celebs in the past have been hailed for their work towards the society. And with sustainable fashion helping the world reduce tall piles of fabric and industry waste, celebrities like Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor have been active members in the realm. Be it donning sustainable, vintage outfits or launching eco-conscious brands, India’s popular faces always step up for a good cause.
And now adding her name to the list is actress Sonakshi Sinha. In a recent collaboration with the People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Sonakshi joined hands with the world’s most renowned animal rights organisation, for an anti-leather campaign. Sharing an image on her Instagram handle, Sonakshi can be seen holding a bleeding leather bag with a caption that says, “Fashion should be fun, not grisly…Please choose fashion that is kind to animals because not only is that the humane thing to do… it’s also hella cool!”

Shedding light on the growing popularity of vegan leather, Sonakshi encouraged fans to choose options apart from animal leather. An animal lover herself, Sonakshi several times in the past has lent her voice for the strengthening of animal rights. While this indeed is an issue that requires our attention, the usage of animal leather has now become a lesser-known practice. With other alternatives like coconut, mushroom and pineapple leather making a cut in designer showrooms, PETA’s continuous efforts have led to some applaudable changes. Last year, luxury fashion brand Valentino also declared the ban on fur from its 2022 collection.
