5 Times Shilpa Shetty Re-Defined The New-Age Saree With Pre-Draped Designs And Sultry Blouses

Saree remains the soul of Indian fashion. The evolving status of this staple traditional design has witnessed many changes in colours and cultural significance. From ethnic zardozi to glistening disco, the saree has found many shapes and forms. And we can thankfully credit Bollywood celebrities and India-born designer houses for rooting for this change. With every celebrity paving the way for a unique design in their next red carpet walk, actress Shilpa Shetty remains a top spot icon in the list. The actress, with her athletic form, is definitely capable of styling even a rag, but her sartorial journey has only gotten better with every new picture.

Between athleisure for her yoga session, and dressing up for television reality shows, the actress often welcomes a unique saree to dress up in. Never, has it been that Shetty repeated a design. From appliqué work, and embroidered hemlines to sultry blouses, she strives to surprise fans in every new look. Hence, we take a walk back at some of our favourite, most recent saree designs from her wardrobe.

1. Goddess White

Like Yash Chopra’s Chandni, Shilpa Shetty brings the signature white with a sexy twist. For a recent red carpet appearance, the actress wore a stunning white drape by the label Qbik. This innovative cocktail saree was tied loosely around her waist, with a half-slit running in between. Matched with it was a statement, signature underwire bralette from the label’s new collection, exhibiting a rich overlay of zari and dabka work. Shetty perfectly stitched together the ensemble using oxidised bangles and kohl eyes.

2. Pre-Draped Saree

The easiest way to dress in a saree is by choosing a pre-draped design. Easy to style and hassle-free, the actress picked a dazzling glittering silver slit saree by label–Itrh. Styled by Mohit Rai, Shetty’s modern twist to the India-loved silhouette featured a low waist, ruched detailing on the sides, a see-through appeal, and a little skin show through the slit. The unique pre-draped saree was further styled with a slim blouse, with ruched, pleated front detailing and a pair of chandelier earrings. A perfect pick for Gen-Z.

3. Print On Print

Apart from picking unconventional cuts, Shetty’s saree collection loves collecting prints. From the classic zebra lines to leopard print, the actress’ new design is a signature piece by JJ Valaya. Styling the same, Shetty punctuated her saree with a beetroot red blouse and sealed it all together with a JJ Valaya belt.

4. Power Play

With a love for details, Shilpa chose to style a silk, heirloom saree in pink, with a long-trailing coat. The Kshitij Jalori saree on her is the Zanzibar Mulberry saree, teamed with a matching trench coat, with embellished lapels. Adding to the sheen of the fabric, Shetty styled the look with a heavy gemstone choker, and hair tied into a ponytail. This is the perfect choice for winter weddings, and also for times, you’re choosing a saree for a special, formal event.

5. Royal Chic

Keeping up with her love for regal shades, and fringe designs, she previously styled a handcrafted saree by designer Anand Kabra. The saree by Kabra featured a slim pallu, embroidered with bold motifs, and a heavy black fringe on the hemline. Draping the saree with a cinched waist belt, Shetty allowed a peek into her choice of blouse in deep red. She further styled the look with a dazzling choker and ear studs to give the ensemble a sharp, edgy cut.
