Sara Ali Khan Is Bollywood’s Newest Maximalist And We Are Learning These Styling Rules From Her

Less often we meet fashion trend followers, who love going overboard with dressing themselves up. And I don’t mean that more than half of the world isn’t stylish, what I mean is doing extra is also an art of sorts, which clearly not many have mastered. Unlike minimalists and lovers of pastel palettes, maximalist dressers are a rarity and also refreshing.

For them, there isn’t any rule but the motto is to not end up looking like a fool. While most subtle dressers look down upon maximalists, I believe being one is a cool thing to do. I mean, is a girl math that we, easy dressers wouldn’t get? From layering textures, and prints to choosing the most statement shades, there’s a lot of work that goes behind slaying as a maximalist. And yes, you can’t just be someone who goes over the top, looking like that one chair in your room, that you dump all your clothes on.

Styling yourself as a maximalist requires the right amount of effort and some brains to mix and match every piece. And while Bollywood has seen only a handful amount of maximalists, actress Sara Ali Khan is surely one, in the category of the next generation. Be it her vacation wardrobe or a special event, Khan goes all out. Her love for colours is what drives us to try newer shades and also curate some unique, mood-bursting combinations.

Just yesterday, the actress styled a Barbiecore look, featuring a pink bow dress, styled with embellished, bejewelled heels. Well, it wasn’t too long ago, when she proved her love for maximalism with two-toned neon athleisure sets, lehengas styled with bold-coloured eyeshadows, haath phool and more. And if you also wanna try your hands on maximalist styling, then take note of these rules.

1. Go Bold With Colours

Go all out with colours. Don’t be afraid of neons. Curate interesting combinations of peppy pink, and green or throw in a purple to experiment.

2. Layer Prints And Patterns

Like Sara, you can also style two unique print designs together. If you’re wearing a polka-dotted dress, go for a geometric pattern when styling an accessory, like a bag, hair band or probably heels.

3. Use Textures

Another way to get started with maximalist dressing is to experiment with multiple textures. Mix leather with a simpler, thinner fabric, or mix corduroy with knitwear or a regular khadi. Go all out.

4. Statement Pieces

As a maximalist, put your collection on display and pull off more than one statement piece. From bold earrings to brooch or a bold makeup look, you can play around.
