Fashion and films go hand in hand. With the emerging new television and OTT series, alongside a plethora of films, filmmakers are prioritising the art of costume design while building big projects. Speaking about the same, the directer of Disney+ Hotstar’s upcoming show Karmma Calling–Ruchi Narain gave an in-depth study about the detailed costumes worn by Raveena Tandon as Indrani Kothari. Speaking exclusively to Hauterrfly, the Guilty fame director spoke about the intense work done behind Tandon’s costumes in the show.
Opening up about the same, Ruchi Narain says, “We have put a lot of effort into the costume of each character to make sure that they have a distinct look, especially in Indrani Kothari’s character. When you say power dressing, they will immediately put them in a pantsuit. But I definitely didn’t want just that. I wanted to keep it in the Indian kind of cultural context. She wears her sarees and drapes them differently, she wears them with pants, with belts. Not just fusion, because you can dress fully Indian and make that power dressing. Only clean lines and heavy materials aren’t power-dressing. Indrani is wearing organza and feather and that is power dressing too!”
Resonating with her character in the show, Raveena’s costumes in the show’s trailer speak about her layered character and redefine power dressing for the audience.
