Heroines are the real heroes. I mean, more than the actors who perform some daring stunts, actresses go through hell while shooting the romantic Bollywood songs in chiffon sarees, against the backdrop of snowcapped mountains. A statement number in most Bollywood films, some stars like Alia Bhatt, Sridevi and even Rani Mukerji struggled while shooting these popular, and apparently romantic songs.
Just recently speaking to Karan Johar, the actress recalled being “frozen” while shooting the popular song–”Tumhi Dekho Na” from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Her famous number was one of 2006’s most iconic songs, showcasing seasons and weathers, with sarees that matched the backdrops. Being the OG Bollywood heroine, in a classic Hindi film, the actress made some style trends in her chiffon saree, while dancing with Shah Rukh Khan in trembling temperature. Romancing in sub-zero temperature for his film, Rani mentioned that she got so sick, and literally “froze,” that she had to be carried to the car.
Working under adverse conditions, the actress mentioned that the romantic chiffon sarees, are not so romantic when shooting in minus 14 degrees. She further added–”I was wearing a red saree in that song (Tumhi Dekho Naa), and I actually froze. I couldn’t walk. And one of my cousins, who was also AD-ing him, Ayan (Mukerji), he had to literally carry me to my car, because I had frozen… If you see the song, in the lip-sync, my lips are frozen. I’m trying to sing it, and it looks sensuous, but it’s not sensuous actually.”

Recently even Alia Bhatt spoke about her experience of shooting one of these romantic numbers–“Tum Kya Mile,” in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and said the team wonderfully took care of her, including her co-actor Ranveer Singh. Well, kudos to these artists for bringing the magic to the big screen.
