Today, Priyanka Chopra’s Grammys Red Carpet Look Featuring An Ill-Fitting Gown And A Boob Contour Disaster

Monday morning saw my Instagram feed flooded with red carpet looks from Grammy Awards 2020. This year was no different with its parade of fashionable celebrities rubbing shoulders with the best in music. The Grammys red carpet is surprisingly unconventional, unlike its tendency to play safe with its felicitations. Musicians from varied genres express their craft though fashion at this event and it is indeed a sight to behold. This event is also responsible for some iconic fashion moments (more on that later). And while breakout stars like Lizzo made waves with their wins and style, our own desi girl Priyanka Chopra Jonas suffered from one of the worse styling disasters we have seen from her.

I am not exaggerating when I say that this look was SO NOT for PeeCee. Everything from the fit, the length, the silhouette, and accompanying glam details fell flat. This woman is a red carpet assassin; her ability to turn out risqué and dangerous dresses without breaking a sweat sparks envy in mortals like us who turn into hunchbacks at the slightest hint of an a plunging neckline.

This was not the first time Ralph & Russo dressed Priyanka for an international event (but we think it might be the last!). The voluptuous beauty wore an ivory sequin-encrusted silk crêpe kimono gown with peach ombré tassled sleeves. While the dress itself is beautiful, it does not do any favours for PeeCee’s body type. The navel grazing deep V makes the shoulders look at risk of jumping ship and not in a “gosh that’s dangerously sexy” kinda way. The kimono sleeves offer no ‘fringed’ benefits to the fall of the gown as well. This dress might have worked on someone petite and in need of all that extra body. Not on PeeCee who boasts delicious curves already!

Talking about curves, the thing I was most offended by was the badly done boob contour job. They might’ve run out of tape, which is almost like holy water for women stepping out on the altar of a deep plunge gown. The contouring hasn’t been blended and catches the light in the worst way and we wonder…was it done one purpose? Surely nobody would want to pose in front of bright camera flashes with inverted ankhs painted on their chest?

PeeCee’s look drew a lot of comparisons with Jennifer Lopez’s iconic ‘barely there’ Versace dress from Grammys 2000. The dress that gave birth to Google Images made waves for the exactly why you’d think it did…it was outrageous. But while JLo was totally feeling herself in the dress had the bravado to match, PeeCee looked visibly uncomfortable and somewhat mad at her dress. You can always tell how a woman feels about her dress why the way she sits in it. And audience clippings showing her not having a good time is proof enough of her disapproval of the look.

Priyanka’s pre-Grammys Nicolas Jebran ensemble was more up her alley. She looked stunning in the silky sheen draped gown, that 80s flouncy hair giving us so much life!
