Bella Hadid, Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, And More Mourn The Demise Of French Fashion Photographer Patrick Demarchelier
The morning of April 1, 2022, brought a piece of sad news for the fashion fraternity with the demise of legendary French photographer Patrick Demarchelier. A name that has been associated with the world of fashion, died at the age of 78. An iconic figure, Patrick was a celebrated photographer, and was known for taking some iconic shots of Princess Diana, Madonna, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez to name a few. Being a popular name in the glamour world, Patrick’s association with fashion magazine titles like–Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle have churned out some note worthy work.

Mourning his sudden demise, celebrities from around the world remembered his work and contribution to the industry. Everyone from Kate Hudson, Emily Ratajkowski, to Cindy Crawford, took to their social media handles to express their grief. Supermodel Bella Hadid also expressed her gratitude for having worked with him during a shoot, while Hailey Bieber shared an image with him on her Instagram story and wrote, “Rest in peace, incredible..”

Furthermore, closer to home, actress Priyanka Chopra shared an image captured by the photographer and wrote, “Your legacy is timeless…. An absolute honour to have worked with you.” Likewise actress Sonam Kapoor shared a memory of working with Patrick for a magazine cover shoot for her debut film Saawariya alongside actor Ranbir Kapoor, and wrote, “He was kind and warm something every debutant should experience with someone capturing her while facing the camera for the first time.”

Known as Princess Diana’s favourite/personal photographer, Patrick was also well known for shooting some album covers like Britney Spears’ fourth studio album, and Janet Jackson’s infamous topless shot for Rolling Stone cover in the year 1993, to name a few. Apart from his work, Patrick became a regular visitor to news headlines for sexual misconduct accusations charged against him, during 2018’s #MeToo movement, which he denied later on.

The news of his demise was shared by his social media team over a message on Instagram. He is survived by his wife Mia, his three sons Arthur, Gustaf, Victor and grandchildren, according to the post.
