We’re DAZZLED By All The Jewellery At The 2016 Oscars!
When it comes to extraordinary style on the red carpet, the Oscars attendees win hands down. And the 2016 Academy Awards proved to be no different. I did rise and shine early that morning to glare at my TV screen and watch the glamour unfold. And was it amazing or WAS IT AMAZING?!
From incredible designer clothes to gorgeous hair and make-up, the red carpet was seriously impressive. But if you really saw the stars, it wouldn’t take you a minute to know that this year was not just about the dresses. The jewellery these stars adorned were not only unmissable but also much-talked-about. All the pieces were elaborate, timeless and extravagant — to say the least — and I could go on about how breathtaking they were. Geometric shapes and drop earrings came out tops as far as trends were concerned. Bare necks were a recurring sight, though when the stars did decide to deck their necklines they did it with statement pieces.
The memo was clear: it was a night for platinum and diamonds. And there’s no complaining because anyone who cares about jewellery is well-aware that platinum is the ideal metal to wear for a chic night event. Here’s a look at some of the stunning jewels that the celebrities wore to the 2016 Oscars. You’ll be bedazzled, I’m sure!
PRIYANKA CHOPRA
To start things off, Priyanka slayed the red carpet. Everything about her look was extraordinary that night — the sheer white Zuhair Murad gown, her understated makeup, and the stunning diamonds she accessorised with. While all eyes were certainly on her, the actress showed no signs of nervousness and emerged as quite THE star! But right after her appearance, the internet went abuzz with reports that the Quantico star’s jewellery was nothing less than US$8 million!
Wearing pieces by Lorraine Schwartz, Priyanka stunned in 50-carat diamond drop earrings set in platinum and priced at a whopping $3.2 million. We noticed a set of rings too — a 22-carat platinum and diamond ring (pegged at $3.4 million), a 10-carat platinum and diamond pinky ring ($850,000), and another platinum and diamond bypass ring of 8 carats ($300,000). Phew!
CATE BLANCHETT
Chandelier earrings are quite the thing in jewellery. Carol star Cate Blanchett accessorised her seafoam green Armani Privé dress with baubles from Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Book collection. Her long earrings in platinum with marquise and round diamonds is priced at $125,000. The Australian actress also wore a platinum starfish cuff with round diamonds, along with a $110,000 ring in platinum with a 2.30-carat round diamond and round diamond border.
CHARLIZE THERON
Charlize Theron proved yet again that when it comes to the red carpet, she can never go wrong. The Mad Max: Fury Road star was adorned in jewellery by Harry Winston worth $3.7 million. The show-stopper was the platinum Secret Cluster necklace with diamonds that are 48.8 carats; such a dreamy piece! She teamed it with platinum and diamond cluster earrings (15.49 carats), a cushion cut diamond ring with micro-pavé of about 8.78 carats, a platinum and micro-pavé diamond band ring, and a platinum Queen ring with diamonds (7.44 carats).
JENNIFER GARNER
Looking as ravishing as ever, Jennifer Garner wore an embellished gown by Atelier Versace to the Oscars. In jewellery by Neil Lane, Garner was seen wearing a stunning pair of 10-carat platinum swirl drop earrings with diamonds and emeralds. She also wore four platinum and diamond bracelets (150 carats, priced at $2.5 million), a $250,000 platinum and emerald cut baguette diamond ring (10 carats), and two platinum and diamond rings to round off her look.
LADY GAGA
The singer teamed her Brandon Maxwell gown suit with 90-carat, emerald-cut diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz, that are reportedly priced at $8 million. She wore her heart-shaped diamond engagement ring, also by the same jeweller.
REESE WITHERSPOON
Another Tiffany & Co. sighting was on Reese Witherspoon, who wore a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown. The actress accessorised with platinum earrings with pear-shaped marquise diamonds worth $250,000, a platinum bracelet with baguette and round diamonds (priced at $300,000), and another platinum bracelet with marquise and round diamonds worth 125,000. I love how she rounded off her look with an emerald cut tsavorite (7.49 carats) and diamonds, priced at $150,000.
