Nita Ambani’s Haldi Ceremony Look

For the lavish Haldi ceremony of her youngest son Aakash Ambani and Radhika Merchant, Nita Ambani chose to wear a stunning multi-coloured lehenga by the designer Torani. On Friday, July 26, the designer took to Instagram to reveal her look and wrote, “Mrs. Nita Mukesh Ambani in a signature Torani- Satranga Lehenga.” The mother of the then-groom has great taste in traditional Indian attires and always picks to wear the most unique and out-of-the-box designs.

The designer elaborated, “Mrs Ambani, known for her patronage of craft and Indian stories, wanted to envision a unique look for the Haldi ceremony of Anant and Radhika.” The plethora of colours symbolized the blessings and joys of the various forms of Devi, as well as the auspicious days of Navratri. The wisdom of Bramhacharini was represented by the colour green, the divinity of Katyayni by the colour red, the serene strength of Mahagauri by the colour blush pink, the boundless joy of Kushmanda by the colour yellow, and so on.

Over 3800 man-hours were required to create this custom lehenga. A group of 60 female artisans worked by hand to knot and adorn the latkans, as well as to embroider and stitch this unique ensemble. Additionally, it honours the beauty of the ‘kitsch’ customs of central India, an aspect of luxury design that has not yet received enough attention. For the jewellery, she went with a massive emerald necklace with pink emeralds, matching earrings, and heavy diamond kadas. For glam, she went with a stunning purple eye shadow and pink blush and completed her overall look.
