Hold the media because our pride Diljit Dosanjh has arrived at the MET Gala looking like a literal Maharaja! The singer rocked the iconic Punjabi look for the event and we’re obsessed. Here’s  a decode of his iconic Prabal Gurung ensemble for the night!

Diljit Dosanjh At The MET Gala

Diljit Dosanjh made a royally dashing debut in Prabal Gurung, emerging on the blue carpet dressed as an Indian royalty and turning heads in a handmade Prabal Gurung suit. The two, who have proudly embraced their identities and channelled cultural roots through style while shattering prejudices, seem like a perfect fit for the MET. Prabal has tailored his design to Dosanjh’s Punjabi ancestry, which is rich in Indian workmanship, and combined it with his strong colour choices, dramatic designs, and a keen eye for blending Western and Eastern aesthetics, all nipped neatly at the waist.

Dosanjh’s cape features the map of Punjab which is nothing short of iconic. All eyes on the necklace though. The Patiala Necklace is a world-famous and historically significant item of jewellery. It was commissioned by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, father of Maharaja Varinder Singh. Cartier, a renowned jeweller, made the necklace in 1928. According to The Times of India, the singer is the only Indian celebrity invited this year to attend and dine at Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour’s special post-Met luncheon.
